This is Mason Pines, but everybody calls him Dipper—and for the people that don't, there is a disturbing likelihood that he will not know who you're talking to. Since he never formally gives an introduction, he can go a shocking amount of time letting people wonder: "Who almost names their kid Dip + derogatory word bank?" (And yes, someone has mutated it into Dipshit, thanks. He applauds your incredible originality, not like anyone's ever asked that one before.)[break][break]
Most obviously, he has a twin. Which everyone also points out as if he hasn't been aware for, what, the last sixteen years. Unfortunately, the equally obvious but thankfully less common statement that "he's lucky to have a twin sister he really likes!" causes him to forget he's trying to be a tough guy and melt into an embarrassed puddle. Too bad for him. [break][break]
He has a quirk of telling everyone a uniquely different story about how he got here. As if the actual one just isn't ridiculous enough. Although he tends to slough it off with "I'm just kidding you," it can range from being eaten by mutated psycho plant aliens to waking up in the plot of Back to the Future 2.[break][break]
Or, when he's feeling distinctly unoriginal, that Tomodachi Island is the end result of a really old pixie stick snorting hallucination—but mostly he takes a lot of photos. And is trying very hard not to end up too much like the cameraman from Cloverfield: jittery. Occasionally exhausted and edgy, with an unusual knack for jumping high in the air, but more often caught harassing ghosts on his campy volunteer ghost walk or trying to rig up old gaming stations during work hours. Doesn't Like Nightmare Worlds, but outside is a scary place it seems. He should really go to sleep more, but makes bad decisions instead.

My kid probably might try to play it off like he doesn't care at all because All Men Believe That They Look Cool By Acting Standoffish When They Actually Don't, but I'd be happy to give him an endearing puppy crush if you are so inclined. Mostly because he's obvious. And ngl her faceclaim is A+ and you know. Uh, faces are an important criterion in my. Decision-making.

. . . although tbh she should leave my poor kid to wallow in shame by himself, apparently every girl he likes is 1000000x out of his league and this is just a reminder of that. As for the age thing—

Which is to say: in canon, Dipper had a very passionate and perhaps now-even-more-moderately embarrassing crush on an older girl who was, in fact, like Agnes. If Freud is proven right and it manifests here, he'll be like, "PLEASE KILL ME. ANY TAKERS? ANYONE?" (This is the story of the boy who never learns.) Either-or, I think they could be funny too because he's super boring so Agnes should liven up his life by being ~*~awesome~*~ and ~*~more manly than he is~*~. And fighting demons in her spare time, he'll like that, Miss Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I kind of hope that they can have a thread where they can strategize on how to curb-stomp zombies while holed up in a shopping mall. I guess they can also commiserate over that whole a demon opened a hellhole in my basement experience, too, if this catches your interest. Dipper sort of awkwardly laughs his own mindscrew incident off though.

But being serious, I think Dipper would view him as sketchy because he's the kind of guy his sister ooohs and ahhhs over for in the movies, which by default makes him the most untrustworthy kind of guy. Stay outta his apartment, man, with your broody guitar playing and the fact you have no real job. It's his shoe box and okay, sure, why would anyone ever want to go in there, but you still aren't invited.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Dipper tried to learn how to play the guitar but ended up completely tone deaf—which is obviously unrelated to his dislike. Jealousy is not the point, the point is that he doesn't like Johnny or his lousy face hanging around. I do get the feeling that they could maybe bond over where they came from, except Dipper is like that lame guy who goes to the beach back home and thinks, "Man. How did I get this skinny. I really let myself go." His love for California is ambivalent at best.

If you're interested they could eventually get on better, if still awkward terms since my immediate idea is dislike and potentially giving him the nickname "Johnny McBadass," but only if Dipper is allowed to be comically unaware of the fact that Johnny is a drug dealer. At the end of the day, he's pure-minded, so I imagine Johnny would just be like: ". . . listen kid, how in the hell are you even still alive. (Does he really not realize?)" It might be pretty funny if he decides to be a big bro and try to hide his Obvious Emotional Issues only to have Dipper almost walk in on them 200+ times. What is more delightful than a desperate attempt to pretend he is "Not Doing Anything At All Suspicious, Also Do You Know A Place Where I Can Hide a Totally Normal Cash Bag?" (I have never been tasked with a comedy drug plot. Mayhaps I can plan one out with enough thought.)

On a random note, I very much enjoyed reading Johnny's app and am also a fan of Green Day! I did not know anything at all about American Idiot except the song, so I actually left thinking I oughta listen to it.

i see your wall and i raise you a post in which i actually put some effort! okay. as for aggie.... i absolutely adore the idea of dipper having a little teenage crush on here. i don't know if she'd be aware of it at first, but if she does find out, she might. freak out a little bit. try to laugh it off. and then, like the bad person she is, she'd probably try to like. lovingly harass him and get him off her back. but in all she'd probably treat him like she'd treat a nephew or something, because I like to think that she has this fixation with being seen as a good role model, just because her own role models were so terrible. i'm honestly down for everything you listed! lena's definitely a quirky, contradicting hot mess. she's not used to having friends around for long thanks to her life on earth. as a result of this and her timid personality altogether, she kinda stopped seeking friendship unless someone else approaches her first.[break][break]

i think that these two could get along really well! they're both similar and different in many ways, but moreover that they're both nerds~ which will give them plenty of things to ramble over. she's a big fan of reading and even (attempts to) write stories and comics (she's a great artist) on her own time. that alone is pretty much... her entire life outside of school and work. that's it. she'll visit the beach when it's too stuffy at home.[break][break]

although she's awkward asf (typical lena), with a few more encounters i could see her warming up to him. they'd have a nice acquaintanceship, but once they're officially friends, the real fun begins : D all the cat puns, casual death threats, tv marathons, and more.[break][break]

i'm down for dipper being her math tutor -- but i feel sorry for him. she's uninterested in math and spaces out a lot, so he's gonna have a tough time for the first two sessions. we could thread around their third or fourth session? maybe that's when they really have a conversation outside math. and we can see how things go from there![break][break]

And, moving along. For his sake. . .

. . . I hope she is never aware of it, but more power to her if she knows. He'd be super embarrassed that this happened to him twice. He's even trying to play if off so she doesn't know. In spite of the fact that his strategy is both Transparently Obvious and Not Very Good. Yeah, I'm not sure where he's going with that but, uh, he believes it is foolproof. Dipper will desperately continue to believe that until experience proves him wrong, in part because her knowing is perhaps too painful for him to think otherwise. (Like dear god please Agnes don't accidentally kill him. A newspaper tagline like "Unfortunate Young Man Dies of Shame" will surely not add to her reputation as a good role model. / and he tried so hard, and got so far. )

But no, as you've said, this is fun. I think it should be highly amusing to watch and he'll probably appreciate being treated like a nephew. He is hugely into the whole family dynamic thing and always appreciates found family, and I think this is especially true in a situation where he only has his twin sister to keep him company. Plus atm neither him nor her have any real connections outside of a handful, with the knowledge that her's seem very Depressing, so I think a bit of lighthearted fun would be good for the both of them. Perhaps his generally . . . different attitude can help her feel a bit more comfortable in her new situation. (And if she knows him maybe he can walk in on some Omega5 drama and be like, "—okay, uh, I deduced that this is a bad time to bring over a movie. Was it the explosions and that giant hole in the wall. Yeah, thaaaaat sounds about right, I can get how that'd be a mood killer. And yeesh. The insurance cost.")

Johnny : i laughed my ass off. is he actually serious? he does realize dipper is legit a joke right? (And that's not at all a bad thing, we each have our talents, but I do admit that I am a little surprised.)

I do think Dipper would valiantly resist being friends only to stumble into situations where they talk to each other anyway for quite some time, and he quickly tries to set it straight with: "Huh, usually when I tell people that I think it's totally possible for space headquarters to have faked the moon landing, they're—eh, y'know—more surprised. I guess that's pretty aweso—NO, WAIT, WHAT. SCREW YOU AND YOUR JEDI MIND TRICKS. I'M OUT OF HERE." He's probably unnerved by the fact he keeps trying to tell this guy off but just ends up getting roped into a conversation instead. Dipper would like to think of himself as being able to take control of a situation, but unfortunately no one takes him seriously enough. (And, for the record: in the universe Dipper came from, it is probably more likely than not that the moon landing isn't real.)

I'm not sure what exactly he'd be resisting, but he's stubborn about his judgmental opinions and would continue to insist that Johnny is bad news. For some reason. (It's probably his suspicious instinct acting up again, but then Johnny does sell drugs so maybe it should.) Even after Dipper's starting to sweat bullets because he's running out of meaningful excuses, and That's Not Good. But I guess if Johnny is persistent, it probably won't be hugely difficult a task to wear Dipper down. Just promise to take him out to eat somewhere. He'll go, because. He's hungry and "hey, why not if someone else is paying." Anyhow I think that's enough rambling.
