a wisp of a creature, unremarkable at first glance, second, or third. he is quiet, soft-spoken at his most generous, and one would wonder why he's a thief ( he claims that it's a family thing; a patchwork family of various adopted supernaturals ). he seems fragile enough even in his part-time job as a barista, the counter a shield between himself and unwanted interaction. it's difficult to find him outside, though one could always take their chances at the library -- check the shelves between ancient civilizations and crime fiction, you'll find him there.

FRIENDSHIPS
COULD YOU BE DREAMING THAT WE'RE MEANT TO BE?

he's a good friend, albeit not the easiest to make -- there is no animosity here, just a simple lack of conviction that you truly want to be around him. don't mistake his disinclination for interaction as not wanting to be friends, because he does, but he also gets tired really quickly sometimes. ( in which case, just expect a lot of texts and links to amusing videos. he has far less shame about double texting. ) if you do happen to want to keep him around, he'd do anything for you. literally.

HATESHIPS
WON'T SAY I LOVE YOU - THAT'S CRAZY, YOU SEE

he stands firm by his belief that people who stop in the middle of a narrow corridor with zero warning have a special place in hell. that aside, joseph isn't really one for hating. he doesn't like some people, but he's not really one of strong feelings either, so actual hatred is difficult to come by. ( but also, if you do happen to hate him -- get in line, he hates himself too buddy ya ain't special )

tragedy awaits. not the star-crossed lovers kind -- more of the silent pining and quiet contemplation and so much denial. it's not a thing, he thinks, that happens to people like him. but by all means, you're welcome to try. ( hmu if you want to try a ship! it's one of those plots i'd rather discuss if it does happen LMAO )

So, getting the suggestion that these two are both kinda socially awkward, as well as bookworms. The first may give them some common ground, as well as make any interactions all kinds of awkward (which would be funny to me, at least). Not sure how well the two would get along, but we could throw them together in a thread, see what happens? Library or near it could be a good place to start. Maybe they start a conversation about a book one of them is returning that they other wants to read. Maybe they just happen upon each other and awkwardness ensues.

Feels there's enough here for a thread, if nothing else.

sounds good to me! ( sorry for taking so long to reply oops i've been busy in school hell :') ) awkward nerds meet at the library -- what shenanigans ensue? maybe the library is somehow really crowded and they just end up sitting in the aisles quietly and awkwardly trying to sustain a conversation about various books because sitting with a stranger in absolute silence is always a little odd?

hello pie!!! i'm going to fling mutsu in joseph's general direction since he's just moved in next door ! which is probably going startle the poor man, considering mutsu's the loud-mouthed sort. he'd probably knock on joseph's door just to ask him strange questions about technology like "what's a dvd, and how does it, what's the word, burn." at any rate, joseph's going to find himself with a new (dogged and exuberant and hopefully, gradually not-unwelcome) thorn in his side.

wOW i'm terrible at keeping up ( curse you, exams ) hhh i'm sorry for taking so long. but anyway, i love this idea! jose would definitely be taken aback by mutsu's energy but i think it'll grow on him; he'll definitely entertain any questions mutsu has. i don't think jose has many friends anyway, so he's always welcome to chill and talk about strange modern technology. cue various neighbourly shenanigans.

not sure if mutsu would ever tell him about being a katana and all that, but jose would probably nerd out about that given that he just?? loves history and stories and learning about people if only he wasn't so shy.

but ye tl;dr this is a qt plot and jose is 100% down for being the chill neighbour who will literally cool your drinks for you on a hot summer's day and entertain all sort of incessant chatter even if it kills him bc he's just very determined to be a good friend
