So, getting the suggestion that these two are both kinda socially awkward, as well as bookworms. The first may give them some common ground, as well as make any interactions all kinds of awkward (which would be funny to me, at least). Not sure how well the two would get along, but we could throw them together in a thread, see what happens? Library or near it could be a good place to start. Maybe they start a conversation about a book one of them is returning that they other wants to read. Maybe they just happen upon each other and awkwardness ensues.

Librarian + Hanako + Robin being quite chill and understanding = Friendship probably yes. Especially if Robin manages to be maternal in a non-demeaning way; if they hit things off very well, Robin may become something akin to a Lily-lite for Hanako. Someone she goes to when she needs comfort, support, or just someone to talk to. Or maybe Robin will be overbearing and ruin everything. Or Hanako will freak out over something, and make things super awkward. Either way sounds interesting to write out. Not sure what Robin would make of Hanako, but that's what threads are for, right? Maybe she'll confide worries/etc about losing her memories at some point. I dunno.
For an idea for a "proper" meeting thread; Hanako is an avid and voracious reader, so she will frequent the library. Maybe Robin strikes up a conversation on a slow day? Maybe something goes wrong at the library when Hanako is there? I've got her at the point where she's feeling settled enough in the island to actually start trying to make connections with people, so maybe she can try to strike up a conversation with Robin in a halting, awkward manner. The former two are probably more likely, but the latter would be more funny. To probably everyone but Hanako.
At any rate, there's nothing wrong with a good ol' fashioned, no-strings-attached friendship every now and again. That's what I see, anyway. Maybe you have a better idea.
Don't really have anything for Azura, despite/because they are both kinda guarded and slow to trust/approach others. Maybe if someone else mediated interactions between them?
EDIT: Also chess. Robin's a tactician, so could maybe be a good shared interest? |

Hanako isn't an overly simple person, despite having very simple desires. All she really wants is a comfortable life where nothing really goes wrong, and she has people to rely on and to support her, but who do not treat her as though she was made of glass. With new people and situations, she tends to shy and cautious, though she has had a little time to adjust to the island, so that may help. Aside from her scars on the right side of her body - which she is extremely self-conscious about - Hanako also has often crippling social anxiety. This usually manifests itself in needing to spend time alone, or with trusted friends, and an inability to deal with being the centre of attention. In extreme cases, Hanako can suffer from panic attacks, or even lapse into a near-catatonic state.[break][break]

It's not so much that Hanako wants friends, and more that she needs them. Unfortunately, her reserved nature and anxiety makes approaching others difficult. Patient, trustworthy and kind people are appealing to her, and she is determined enough to put in the effort needed to establish a connection with someone else. She tends to stay away from blunt, insensitive, rowdy or even just chatty people, though. One bad experience can sour her entire perception of someone, so some care needs to be taken. As a friend, Hanako is loyal and considerate, and thinks deeply about how others feel; both in general, and about her. She's also very nervous about what others think of her, so reassurances of friendship - direct or otherwise - are welcome. It may take a while (and a few threads) for any kind of real trust or rapport to build.[break][break]

Too shy and anxious to actually try to antagonize people, and too pacifistic to seek out a grudge, Hanako is more likely to quietly dislike or distrust people than act in an antagonizing manner. Still, there is one surefire way to earn her wrath; betraying her trust. She's been burned too many times in the past, and opening her heart up is risky. So those that betray that trust, intentionally or otherwise, may find Hanako closed off to them forever. Also, treating her like a fragile, broken, weak thing is endlessly frustrating to her, even as she knows she needs more help and support than the average person.[break][break]

Hanako has felt the stirrings of romantic attachment before, though she was whisked away before such feelings had a chance to bloom. Deep down, it's something she desperately craves - to be desired by someone else, in every meaning of the word. It's also a difficult issue, as such feelings can only be safely explored, for her, from a place of true intimacy and trust. Opening her heart to friends is challenging enough. Still, if one manages to work their way firmly into Hanako's heart, and she knows she has done that same with them, there's little chance of Hanako ever being willing to let go of such a connection. (Zaddie's notes: Very interested in trying this out, but it's probably best to see who she manages to befriend, first. But a random crush could be fun, too!)

Wolfram-39 - typically known as Volf or Three-Nine to comrades and friends - has known little but war before coming to Tomodachi Island. Having fought in a losing war for about three years, and most of his life, Wolfram-39 is both very experienced and world-weary, and quite ignorant of a lot of the world. He has discovered a love for music, and has managed to get enough practice with his voice and with a guitar to make it reasonably well as a busker and member of a metal band. Still, his choice of music and style of playing make it clear that he pours a lot of repressed rage into his work. That isn't to say that he's violent or even grumpy; he simply has a lot of mostly-undirected anger. He's also slightly obsessed with his own mortality; in all likelihood, he'll probably live for another five years, if that.[break][break]

Despite what some might think, given his background of being a vat-born soldier, Wolfram-39 has made friends before. These were friendships and brotherhoods forged on the battlefield, both with fellow homunculi and with humans. He understands the value of companionship, especially in order to stay sane in the midst of constant battle. Still, on this peaceful island, he is a bit more clueless. Without a common interest or goal to strive for, he may struggle to break the ice. Given his short life, he also doesn't see much of a point in establishing lasting bonds. Still,
one may easily be able to connect with him by having a similar past, sharing a love for music, or simply having interesting things to say.
He's not closed, guarded, or secretive; it could be something as simple as someone taking an interest as to why he has a number in place of a first name. As a friend, Wolfram-39 would be likely to rebuke his companions, and trying to ensure that they, at the least, lead productive and happy lives.[break][break]

While his anger is existential, it is still anger. It is easy for his temper to boil over, and to lash out with unkind words. He's also very quick to make assumptions about others, and may antagonize those he feels are harmful or simply willfully ignorant or stupid. Those that devalue anything he does - life, death, music - are extremely likely to get on his nerves. As are those who have long lives, and seem to seek to squander it. His abrasive music, harsh words, and a fatalistic worldview are also likely to earn him a few people that think ill of him, and vice-versa. He also has something of an ingrained distrust and mislike of "true" magi. Possibly due to both being forced into war by them,
and spending the majority of his life trying to kill them.[break][break]

Fully aware of his mortality, Wolfram-39 isn't really looking for long-term romantic attachment. He's not really much of a womanizer or a flirt, mostly due to the lack of experience war provides in that regard, but he's not exactly blind to the attractions of the fairer sex. Part of his does want that intimate connection with another person, no matter how short lived it may be, and another part of him would prefer it if such relationships were kept rather casual. Long story short, maybe something will happen in this department. If and when it does, we'll see what happens.

I am TZadRa, or Zaddie as many call me, and I'm just your average Canadian/New Zealander who works as a preschool teacher in Ikebukuro. It's not a line of work I saw myself getting into - my degree in Japanese language and history may still lead me to working in a university at some point - but it's a very rewarding job. I've been living in Tokyo for about a year now, and I've got no intention of moving anywhere else any time soon.[break][break]
I got my start in roleplaying in tabletop games (though never D&D, oddly enough), so making the jump to a written format without a system was challenging but interesting. I've been roleplaying online for... crap, has it been eight years already? I don't consider myself amazing by any stretch, but, these days, I focus a lot on characterization and character development. Probably because I've accidentally made far too many static characters in the past. I'm also a fan of playing characters who are kinda sucky or incompetent in battle, and also those who solve everything with violence. These are not mutually exclusive. I've also only really RPed one romance that went anywhere, and it's something I'd like to get more practice writing.[break][break]
I'm also an avid gamer, and occasional streamer. I'll play virtually anything, but my favourite genres are RPGs, VNs, fighting games (I main Yoshimitsu in Tekken, Akatsuki in Under Night In-Birth, Mai in Blazblue, and Ryougi Shiki in Melty Blood. If anyone wants to fight over Steam) and basically anything with co-op. I also really like games like Factorio and Rimworld. Favourite game of all time is probably Dark Souls 3. Oh, I also spend way too much money on Magic the Gathering, and am always up to play Modern or Pauper via MTGO.[break][break]
