Shopping. A task which, when it comes to groceries, is absolutely tedious. He's really only okay with doing the shopping because he knows he can splurge on buying treats and other inessentials -- like ocean breeze high-quality hair-shine shampoo. Or lavender bath salts. Or oreos.

Which is why he's heading straight to the cookies section first. Vegetables and bread can wait until later. To Lance, Oreos are the most important right now.

Actually, he lied. He detours towards the personal care section, picks up a bottle of his favorite conditioner (it's extra-strength and it's got one of the better scents. Plus it has added vitamins for the scalp) and then heads towards the cookie aisle.

Upon arrival, he zooms in on his favorite section (a section he knows well for its deliciously stuffed creamy-centered biscuits) and quickly finds a blue package marked with the word 'Oreos'. His hand reaches out to grab it, but before he can, it brushes against another person's.

Lance blinks, moving backwards instinctively. But then he recomposes himself, giving them a lopsided grin as he slowly wraps his fingers around the oreo package. "Hey there," he says amiably. "Nice day, huh?"

Those oreos are his.

The questions occupied his mind until his hand came in contact with another and they scattered suddenly, leaving a sharp and unhappy clarity. The last package of Oreos and someone else was trying to get them. He scowled. "It's a real damn shitty day and I'm taking these." Lance keeps his grin friendly and amiable, but as soon as the other speaks, the smile drops. Wow. How rude. And here he'd been trying to be nicey-nice and everything. Not that he usually isn't, but he'd at least been trying to avoid conflict. As well as get his Oreos before the other tried to snatch them. So much for peace.

Lance's grip tightens as soon as the other lays hands on the precious blue-wrapped package. Immediately, his mood sours and he shoots the other man a glare, brows furrowed and eyes alight like blue fire.

"Hey! I had those first!" he exclaims, doing his best to tug it towards him. He grounds himself, digging his feet in so he can have a better grip. And really -- a grown man fighting over Oreos? How immature was that?

He's gotta say, too, that the guy doesn't look exactly like a good crowd. Bloody knuckles, bruises, bandaids of an array of neon colors? For all Lance knew, the guy could be some drug addict...and oreo addict. He wasn't going to let those delicious treats go to waste.

As soon as the man lets go, Lance hugs the package to his chest tightly. He's about to turn and run off when he's stopped by the man's words. Oh. He'd just arrived?

Frankly, the man looks pretty worn out. A little worse for wear. The story matches the cuts and bruises and though it's a little funny how the man's first thoughts are towards grabbing oreos, he does feel pretty bad. The guy's voice sounds darn tired. And Lance doesn't have no compassion for someone who's suddenly been yanked from the world they know.

He hesitates, still clutching the oreos tightly. And then, he slowly loosens his grip and holds out the package to the man. His arm is ever so slightly shaking and that's only because he's sad to see the oreos go.

And as much as he felt like screaming and grabbing them back, simply because he could, he didn't do so. Instead, he mutters a half-hearted 'you're welcome' and is about to turn and sulk off to complete his grocery shopping when he's stopped by the man's question.
