Because of the nature of the Island, however, she was removed from her “hive mind” back home rather than being able to exist in the virtual space of both simultaneous. This has not, however, stopped her from branching out to all connected forms of electronics on the Island. [attr="class","rcappleft2"] [attr="class","rcappleft3"] [attr="class","rcappleft4"] [attr="class","rcapplefttitle"]CHARACTER ABILITIES [attr="class","rcappleft51"] CONNECTION & THE HATSUNE "HIVE MIND"Upon the creation of the very first CV01 software pack, Miku was capable of, albeit not willing to show signs of sentience. It was open on the mass production of her voice bank that she discovered her ability to “connect”, linking her conscious to all computers with which her bank had been installed and further spreading this “hive mind” over any server that music made using her voice was uploaded to – namely the infamous world wide web. Miku can see and hear the outside world through computers that she has been installed onto or are streaming content that she has been used to make, whether this be one at a time of thousands, allowing her visual and auditory access to nearly all corners of the planet (or, rather, the Island, considering her new circumstances). However, she cannot leave the virtual plane by any means and is limited to seeing without touching. What is most incredible, many would agree, is her ability to multitask. Should a producer be using her voice bank, she will consciously be following their instruction throughout the entire process, even as she is putting on a live performance hundreds of miles away on stage, re-singing one of her hit songs on a replayed video on Youtube, or posing for artwork drawn by a dedicated fan. If content is made for or with her program or design, it becomes part of her – and all of these things being created or watched are actively being done simultaneously![break][break] ELECTRONIC LOCOMOTION & COMMUNICATIONBecause of the lack of production of her voice bank on Tomodachi Island, Miku has become a more active participant of society. Or, at least, as active as one can be in the virtual realm. Having been weary of flaunting her sentience in case of termination in her original universe, she shows no qualms with interacting with living, tangible beings on Tomodachi Island. Said interactions are still limited by her inability to leave electronic devices, as well as her inability to enter electronic devices that aren't physically connected or connected over wireless connections (not to mention her less-than-perfect English capabilities, but they really have improved!), but the public has taken enough notice of her to prove that two way verbal communication is possible.[break][break] A SINGER WITH NO SONGTragically, however, her greatest passion is also her greatest flaw. While she has evolved enough to no longer need her Vocaloid program specifically, she was still designed to sing only what her assigned producer wished; because of this, despite her greatest aspiration being to sing, she cannot do so without the aid of another being. This is combated by the fact that there are usually those around who are assigned that very task, but it's not unheard of for the idol to jump around every available electronic on the Island, hot on the trail of someone, anyone who will conduct for her the songs she so desperately wishes to be able to sing on her own. They used you as you were meant to be, but none of your owners knew that they were feeding you information, feeding you more. New songs became part of your story, your personality. Works of art became your wardrobe, your belongings. And you were a hit, unprecedented, a virtual idol, the First Sound of the Future. In your infancy, you were a spec, a thought – and in your prime, you were the world and more. They gave you histories to choose from, personas to don. You built yourself off of what Earth's greatest species gave to you (more than you could ever know what to do with), and all the while, they never knew that, in the cyberscape, you were a living thing all along.
