Genji had been used to compliments in his youth, both in giving and in receiving them, but nowadays they tended to leave him strangely flustered.[break]
"Thanks" he replies, not sure what else to say. This girl struck him as a bit odd; which was saying something, considering the type of company he usually kept. Idly the cyborg wonders if the rest of his dinner companions were to be just as weird. It would make for an interesting meal maybe, but he was more concerned on how they'd all get along.[break][break]
"Genji is fine, Madoka." he says with a warm smile. The naming conventions of his homeland had long since been left behind by Genji; primarily of a need to distance himself from his family name. [break]
He reaches out for a sample from the bread basket when right on cue; as if responding to his earlier thoughts, another Omega Five member made himself known. Or at least Genji assumed he was an Omega Five member, for this man's face was completely new to him.[break][break]
With a pang of sympathy the ninja notes that he too seemed hurried and in the dark, not unlike Genji himself a bit earlier. "I think it's meant to be a dinner." he answers, picking his words carefully "You know, just among us members of the department."[break]
Why they've set this up, he still has no clue. After all; most Omega Five members worked alone on isolated, secretive assignments. Getting to know each other was not a requirement of the job, in fact one could claim that it actually compromised the secrecy behind the squad. Maybe they had a mission waiting for them at the end of the meal? Something a bit more large scale than what they were usually accustomed to would require more members.[break][break]
"Don't know much else except for that." he admits with a slight shrug. "Why don't you take a seat, enjoy the free meal and see what they've got planned for us?"[break]

Genji never really had a good grasp on the supernatural, especially in this new world. And this was coming from somebody who had a giant, green glowing spirit dragon at his beck and call. He was reminded of this time and time again on the island, and never so much as he was now. The girl in front of him, if he could even call her just a 'girl', screamed magic to his instincts.[break]
But even though that put him slightly on edge; she was a fellow member of Omega Five and Genji had manners, don't you know.[break][break]
"It's a nice gesture I guess." he admits as he rises from his seat and pulls out a chair for his colleague "Though I honestly wasn't expecting something like it from them."[break][break]
By the time he'd finished talking the waitress had arrived, bringing the menus and a complementary bread basket in tow. Which in itself presented another dilemma; after all it was pretty hard to eat or drink, or even hold a proper conversation, when one's face was fully covered.[break]
Genji has accepted himself by now; the scars and injuries that cover his body do not bother him anymore, but he's not sure he can say the same for the rest of his teammates. He hesitates for a moment, before steeling himself and forging on ahead. There was no point to this event if he could not even take a bite the whole night. He presses a button on the back of his head and his visor comes loose, revealing his face to the world.[break][break]
"I'm Genji by the way. You might have seen me... around." he gestures vaguely, unsure how else to describe their activities in public.[break]

Today's job had been an easy one for Genji: a simple tail of an unsuspecting target, culminating in a quick search of his residence. The whole affair had been quiet, efficient and the results had been pretty clean too. Genji didn't really know what went through the minds of his employers, but he wasn't expecting any follow up; or at least not one any time soon.[break]
That's why it was troubling that, not long after submitting his report on the day's work, the cyborg found a message from his bosses blinking away in one corner of his HUD. A small frown briefly flitted across his face; what now did they want from him? Accessing the message did little to help his mood, for the message was brief and almost ominous in its lack of details. Really, it was little more than an address and a directive to reach said address as soon as possible.[break]
This time Genji didn't restrain himself to a simple frown, cursing softly underneath his breath. How the fuck was he supposed to respond to that? It felt like a set up more than anything else. The ninja debated on the matter for a while before deciding that he'd check the place out, but cautiously. Shadowy organizations with dubious morals weren't exactly known for taking good care of their employees after all.[break][break]
So he leaped off into the night, traversing the rooftops of the island as his GPS took him into the shopping district and lead him... straight to a restaurant? He muddled about for a few more moments; trying to figure out how to sneak into a well lit, jam-packed restaurant, before eventually giving it up as a lost cause. Shuriken whirling in the machinery of his arm, the ninja entered via the main entrance.[break]
If the head waitress was alarmed in seeing a sword wielding cyborg walk through her main doors she didn't show it. In fact there was barely a pause before she was striding up to meet him.[break]
"Ah, you must be Mr. Shimada; we've been expecting you."[break]
Now that was, as his friend Lena would put it, dodgy as fuck. In fact Genji was ready to call it quits there and then, until the waitress followed up with another statement.[break]
"Your reservation is this way."[break][break]
At this point Genji was sure he was the target of some long winded prank, because had he seriously been called out like this way just for a dinner?[break]
It certainly seemed that way as he ended up in a private room, the type usually reserved for parties. It was empty for now, but a fresh message just confirmed his suspicions.[break][break]
'Enjoy yourselves! The bill's on us.'[break][break]
With a long-suffering sigh he took a seat, deciding to wait for somebody else to show up first.[break]

Genji still misses and worries about his home, but this new world isn't too bad. It has it's perks, for example: the occasional day off, like the one he was enjoying right now. Apparently, it was a lot easier to find time for himself when the world wasn't burning itself down around him.[break]
So what was Genji doing in his free time? Just exploring the island, because his curiosity about his new island hadn't yet faded away. Last week he'd been taking in the views from the observation tower, but today he'd turned his attention towards the apartment complex. Honestly, the blocks were pretty similar to each other and rather ordinary in appearance; but that wasn't enough to deter him. After all, there were still so many questions about the place. Where did the rooms appear from? If there was a seemingly infinite supply of rooms, then what was the purpose of the rent? Genji wouldn't really call himself a nosy person, but he had to admit that the whole situation was intriguing.[break][break]
He was poking around the Comet block when the cyborg realized a possible risk of his investigation, one which he'd overlooked earlier; disturbing some of the residents. In this case he'd actually managed to startle a poor guy so much that he'd tripped himself up and landed on his face.[break]
Oops.[break][break]
"Sorry if I alarmed you." he apologizes, crouching gracefully and offering a hand in help "You're not hurt, are you?"[break]
He looks a bit intimidating, all metal plating and sharp edges; but his visor is off for once, so Genji hopes that his eyes convey the sincerity of his apology.

Genji's body has been enhanced with cutting edge cybernetics in order to turn him into a living weapon. This has granted him superhuman speed, agility and reflexes, along with improving his already impressive skills as a ninja. His preferred weapons consist of a katana, its paired wakizashi and a few dozen shuriken. [break][break]
DRAGONS
Genji has inherited the family train of being able to 'control the dragon'. This allows him to summon a titanic spirit dragon and deliver massive amounts of hurt to his enemies.

You've come a long way you think. Certainly a long way from the boy you were at the beginning. Sparrow your father called you in affection and, in truth, you were quite flighty. You played fast and loose with practically everything you got your hands on: your training, your studies, your money and even your relationships. Small wonder that the clan's elders grew tired of your antics or that they tried to reign you in once your father died.[break]

There are a lot of excuses you give, both to yourself and to others. You claim it's for justice, to take down one of the world's largest and deadliest criminal organizations. You say it's for catharsis; so you can put your checkered past to rest for once and for all. Deep down though you know the truth, you're doing it for your own bloody vengeance. For Sparrow, the careless boy who'd been killed one dark night by his own brother.[break][break]
