[attr="class","jarchmbt"] [attr="class","jarchmbtt"]
Landwalkers - sorry humans - were a weird bunch. Yet he had always been attracted to them. It was one of the reasons he always flew so close to that little island up until the day when he couldn't have flown anymore. But now things were a little more complex. Not only couldn't he fly, but he was now one of them. A human with a weird form that he couldn't control properly. Especially as his usual abilities were still intact. Juggling both sides had proven a big challenge for him. Also he still had trouble pronouncing his 'new' name - Yoru Fureur. Why couldn't he still be 'Toothless'. He liked that name. Not whatever abomination name this is. It was just as bad as that boy, 'Snotlout'.[break][break]
The people who ran this place had also sent him away to an Academy-like place. It really was similar to the few memories he had of a brand-new Dragon Training Academy that had been built on that Island just... without the dragons. A 'school' they kept calling it and he seemed to be of the age where he should attend. That wasn't event going into the fact that he could barely speak the human language nor read anything that was to be read. Plus the fact that he didn't understand the context?[break][break]
What in the world was he even doing there.[break][break]
Sitting in the room filled with all manner of paper and other knickknacks, Yoru had an itchy feeling in his nose. One that he remembered from a few time back in his world. Namely it happened in the cold or when too many specks of dirt got into his nose. Taking two huge breaths in, he let out a large sneeze. Which also set off one of his Plasma Blasts into the paper in front of him. Unfortunately instead of simply disappearing, the paper caught on fire. It didn't surprise Yoru but he did lean back slightly and stare at it for a few seconds before realizing that the humans probably wouldn't be used to seeing fire like this. That would be when a girl walked over and nearly stops the fire, so he just placed his hand atop it to completely stop the flames. It was simple enough considering he still retained all his dragon abilities... even if he had to hide his wings in places like this which seemed unreasonable to him.[break][break]
"Sorry." He looked up directly into her eyes, genuinely apologizing for his action. Seeing humans stunned or afraid... for some reason he didn't like it. "Not what was meant to happen. Will not again." Did he say that right? Maybe he should say something else at the end? No Hiccup wouldn't do that so... yes. That was right. He extended his hand to the girl without moving his gaze. "Yoru."

The world this was now was new, different and just.... unnerving. No dragons were anywhere here which was the first tip that Yoru had for things being completely different from the way of life on that little island. That wasn't even including the fact that he'd joined the landwalkers in form while still retaining his wings but still unable to fly. Because of their distrust to 'new' the teen had made sure to cover up his horns with a cap and tuck his wings away where no one could see. Better safe than sorry after what Hiccup's father had done to him.[break][break]
But the park was nice. Being in the wide open spaces made him wanna run around and try to catch leaves on his tongue... although that probably wasn't a very landwalker thing to do. No it's 'human' isn't it? That sounded right. Since landing here there had been all kinds of adjustment that he had to make to his lifestyle. One of those had been to figure out the 'human' language and speak it which he couldn't do fluently. It would be so much easier to just growl at them all. Hiccup had been able to understand him.[break][break]
Sighing he finally threw his legs out in front of him and stared up at the sky, wishing just like he always did. Just once he wanted to be up there in the clouds again, to breathe in the air from above and fly freely knowing that he wouldn't have to return to the earth for ages. But now he was grounded. No he remained grounded. Without Hiccup, even this new place refused to let him have the freedom he so wished for. [break][break]
"Why." he muttered to himself. "Why no fly..."

After the first movie's end and everyone is happy HUZZAH! But then things aren't so happy when Toothless is taken away from everything he knows and thrown into this world. Annoyed and confused, he had to learn to act as a human as something went wrong during the transition, fusing two forms and creating a new one. Basically he's pissed off because he has wings but still can't fly in addition to not being able to use his real name. 'Yoru Fureur' was chosen as it translates to 'Night Fury' which is a hint-hint-nudge-nudge kinda thing at his true nature.

DRACION Alright so. In essence what Toothless/Yoru's species is is a Dracion - a human-dragon hybrid. Not through any kind of experimentation, I just wanna say that something went wrong during the transportation between the worlds. Yoru has the appearence of a human, or so you might think. He also has Toothless's horns sticking out the top of his head in addition to wings (which he can tuck under any general clothing. This grants him enhanced physical strength and the ability to shoot energy blasts (plasma blasts) from his hand. So with all this in mind why can't he fly? Simple. He wasn't brought here with a tail. A dragon - even a halfling - can't fly without their tail. He's basically grounded. Also he can't read, write, spell or even talk that well yet.

BEFORE WE MET He had always felt alone. There were always so many dragons around but none of them were the same as him. Where he was black, they were all multicolored. He had six limbs while some had four and he was the only dragon to have a tail quite like his. So he decided that, in the end, the only way for him not to feel like an outcast was to stay away from all the other dragons. To live his life alone and without anyone.[break][break]
Every dragon he saw - if only by chance - seemed to have a 'family'. The larger dragons seemed to look after the smaller ones...[break][break]
He'd never had a family.[break][break]
From the moment he'd opened his eyes there had been no one. A loneliness that never seemed to fade away or leave him alone or anything. It just kept growing even as he continued to get older. But it had been there for his entire life so... he assumed it was normal. It was just apart of who he was.[break][break]
So who would've thought that one day he would get shot down.[break][break]
For some reason, he was pulled towards the island filled with all the little creatures. An intense need to know more. He hadn't had the chance to see them before, even if he had heard the mentions of them calling themselves Vikings. Many of his fellows called them landwalkers but he.... he wasn't sure what to call them. Certainly not lunch as they intrigued him. But as he tried to get closer he was attacked by these creatures when he hadn't done anything! Naturally he retaliated and burned down one of their funny caves. So easy to burn. In fact he had been about to run away from the small creatures when he was shot down by one of their young.[break][break]
Falling. He was definitely falling without being able to spread his wings. The speed of his decent kept increasing which struck fear into his heart. If he landed at the wrong angle would he injure himself? Would he never fly in the sky again?! As he continued to descend, he could feel that something wasn't right with his tail. It was painful and blindingly so. So much so that he had to close his eyes, leading to him crashing through the trees before finally hitting the ground.[break][break]
Yet he had never expected to meet the youngling there.
WHEN THE GEARS BEGAN TURNING
So small and fragile. It would have been so easy to hurt him like so many dragons had done to those like him in the past. Yet he looked at the small creature and didn't see what the others had spoken of. This small youngling... he could see himself in the child's eyes. But when his eye flicked to the knife in his hand, he could tell that it was over. He would die here and there would be no more loneliness.[break][break]
He surrendered and laid down his life.[break][break]
And yet the strike never came. Even with his eyes clenched closed he could tell that there was something wrong so when the sound of ropes being cut echoed through his brain, his eyes flicked open to see the youngling cutting away the bonds that tied him. Not only was it unexpected, but the gesture caused him to freeze up. This particular youngling was trying to save him even though his kind hunted dragons such as himself.[break][break]
When the bonds dropped away he pounced on the small creature. So frail and weak. There was nothing stopping him from simply finishing it and leaving this place. But the look that he saw in the youngling's eyes stopped him from simply leaving. Naturally there was fear but there was something else. Something that he could undoubtedly relate to and it almost reflected himself.[break][break]
But he knew better.[break][break]
Shaking that thought away, he roared in the youngling's face before leaping away in an attempt to fly. Yes, soon he would be in the sky again where he was meant to be. Except something.... something was wrong. The weight of his tail was lighter than it had been before and it made him lose his balance as soon as he leaped into the air, causing him to fall into a ravine. The landing hurt and lead to him getting up to roar. It didn't matter if the whole world heard him because it felt like there was no way out of this trap. Now he was stuck there...
I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT
There was someone watching him, he could feel it although there was no telling what it was. Probably some small dragon watching out of curiosity. Plenty of others hadn't seen someone like him before so it was only natural that they would want to see more.[break][break]
A bit like him and the funny creatures who lived near the water....[break][break]
But this was no time for wondering how similar he was to one of those funny creatures, now was the time for him to be trying to get out of this place. Backing up slowly, he looked up at where he wanted to go and began running, trying desperately to fly up and out. To feel the air once again. But just like his past attempts, he couldn't make it and fell back into his prison.[break][break]
Suddenly there was a clatter from behind him and his head whirled around to see what had caused the sound. That same youngling from before - the one who had tried to kill him but freed him instead. He tilted his head and stared at the young creature. Why did he come back? None of the creatures he had encountered had come back before so why did he? It was curious... and it sparked his curiosity. He wanted to know more about this small creature, without getting too close. This youngling still had the strength to kill him after all.[break][break]
But did he really think that?[break][break]
Even after the small male had left he found himself still thinking about him. Although he still tried to escape, his thoughts often wandered to the small creature who continued to return each day. Until one day he did something unexpected and brought fish to the cove which was his prison.[break][break]
Maybe this was the point that he began to believe that maybe the youngling wasn't like the others. The boy held out a fish for him and ever so wearily, he reached out to grab the fish. Naturally, he retracted his teeth so that he wouldn't hurt the youngling if his bite was too string. But he was just so hungry. He couldn't just wait as not to injure the child so he brought his teeth back and gobbled the fish in one gulp.[break][break]
Something deep in his stomach said that he couldn't just leave the youngling without an item of gratitude. Especially when he had fished just to get him something to eat. So he walked up to the child and when he tried to move further back, the dragon would just move forwards. Eventually he leaned down and began to bring the fish back. He licked his lips to make sure all the fish remains were off them and looked expectantly at the child. Surely the small youngling wouldn't just throw it away. It was fish and sometimes he had gone ages without food. Once the fish was eaten, he smiled.[break][break]
Maybe landwalkers weren't all they were made out to be.
THIS FRIENDSHIP MAY HAVE SAVED ME
The child's eye was often on him and honestly he enjoyed just playing around in front of the youngling. He made the dragon feel safe, as though it was alright to be whomever he wanted to be. Eventually, he spotted the landwalker drawing in the sand. It looked like it could be and interesting thing to try![break][break]
So he grabbed a bigger twig than the one the youngling was using and began drawing himself.[break][break]
Twirling, spinning and drawing. It was so much fun to just run around and create what he was. In fact he was incredibly proud of the way his creation had turned out, wanting it to last forever. If the small child could draw him, then he would return the favor and draw the youngling! Eventually the small child backed into his chest so that he was staring down at the youngling.[break][break]
Suddenly there was a hand in front of him and he growled. Was this another attempt to harm him? He would certainly be dead if he touched that hand. But in the youngling's eyes, he didn't see the intent to injure. Instead there was a kind of fear mixed with... hope. It was curious but if he trusted the child... maybe he would discover more?[break][break]
So he placed his snout into the hand of the youngling.[break][break]
It was a comforting feeling. A sense of security that he'd never felt before, nor had he ever thought about having. Was this what it felt like to have a family? If it was then he could understand why so many younglings stayed with their parents for a while before taking off into the world.[break][break]
But the child was still one of the landwalkers.[break][break]
Remembering this, he shook his head and moved away from the boy but that feeling of warmth remained. He knew from that moment that he never would be able to forget that feeling. Maybe one day he might stay with the source of that warm feeling of belonging.
I GAINED A NAME AND A FRIEND
The youngling visited often and began to call him by a name - Toothless it was. He quite liked it, the name that he was called by the child and overtime he came to know that the child's name was Hiccup. Without even intending it to happen, Toothless (which he now decided he went by) knew that he trusted the boy Hiccup.[break][break]
Especially when he brought a whole carry-thing of fish. Whenever he felt something up against his tail he moved it to the side. Then to the over side. At one stage he even flicked his tail upwards with a smirk on his face the entire time as he ate more of the fish.[break][break]
That is until he felt the strange contraption around his tail tighten.[break][break]
In that instant his tail felt right again. There were no limitations and the weight there always had been before his crash had returned. Without thinking Toothless opened his wings and stared up into the sky.[break][break]
Once again he would fly.[break][break]
He began to run, speeding up without even realizing that Hiccup was still holding onto his tail. The sky was right there and this time he had the chance to reach it. He couldn't let that slip out of his claws! Faster, faster, faster until he tried to jump off the ground and enter the skies again! So close he was getting to the edges of the cove but he was falling.....[break][break]
Until something clicked behind him and he sprung up from the prison he'd had to live with for the past little while.[break][break]
Over the cliffs, trees and ocean. It was amazing to be back in the air and free once more. But that was when Toothless realized that Hiccup was still hanging on and he tried to push him off, only to cause himself to crash into the lake of the cove once more. But for some reason he wasn't as disappointed as he had been before. There was no rage at not being able to fly. Rather, he was beginning to feel glad that Hiccup had been on that flight with him. Maybe Hiccup was the key.[break][break]
But each day from there, his new-found 'friend' would return every morning to feed him fish and other assorted seafood. (but not eel. Eel was gross, terrifying and something that Toothless never, ever wanted to have to come into contact with) In between these visiting times, he was honestly lonely. No other dragons ever came to the cove and the only thing to keep him company were the fish. Toothless wasn't a fan of making friends with the food so most of the time he simply curled himself up and waited. Waited until he hears Hiccup's voice and then he would leap up to try and knock him over.[break][break]
They did so many things together! Undoubtedly those days were the best of his life, especially since he had been so lonely before arriving on this small island. In addition to more fish, sometimes Hiccup would bring new items to the cove. They looked so weird and interesting... he had to know more about them! Find out how they worked. Most of the time that lead to Toothless sniffing at what would be known as saddles, harnesses and all other kinds of contraptions to help with flight.[break][break]
Flying with Hiccup on his back was the best feeling which there was no way for Toothless to describe. There was more weight than when he had flown alone, but it was reassuring. The life of the landwalker was in his claws but there was no way he would let the life go to waste.[break][break]
No matter what he would protect Hiccup.
BUT CHANGE CAN BE DIFFICULT FOR SOME
One day Toothless heard Hiccup talking about leaving. He couldn't understand why since things were going so well and he could fly again as long as he was on his back. It piqued Toothless's interest since Hiccup would be leaving the place he lived. While dragons didn't often stay in one place, the landwalkers did so this would be where his family was....[break][break]
But Hiccup was his family and Toothless would go with him if he truly wanted to leave.[break][break]
Someone else was in the cove. Another landwalker who looked different to Hiccup in multiple ways. Toothless was looking over at the - was it a girl? - when Hiccup saw her. But then his eyes drifted to the object that she was holding... he recognized it. On the night he had been shot down all of the older landwalkers had been holding items like those.[break][break]
Weapons.[break][break]
His eyes turned to slits and he hissed. That girl landwalkers was going to hurt him so it was only natural he would want to keep himself safe...[break][break]
But what if she hurt Hiccup as well?[break][break]
That thought caused the fins on his head to rise up even more and he hissed again. Especially when she launched an attack on the friend that had taken care of him for this long time. He had been about to rear up on his hind legs when Toothless saw Hiccup knock the weapon-thing away and decided against harming the girl.[break][break]
Apparently knowing that the girl's name was 'Astrid' made her less likely to harm him.[break][break]
So once 'Astrid' started walking away (good riddance to her) Toothless's pupils expanded again as he relaxed and went to lye down somewhere. As long as she wasn't near here, there was no reason for him to worry. No harm would come to either him or Hiccup now.[break][break]
He opened one of his eyes and saw Hiccup's expression. Clearly he wanted to go after her. He obviously thought it was a good idea to let the weapon-wielding 'Astrid' come into the cove where they both spent much (in Toothless's case all) of their time.[break][break]
But he trusted him.[break][break]
The fun part about this was that he got to pluck 'Astrid' off the ground and place her on one of the nearby trees until she agreed to fly with them. Which he wasn't happy about. Hiccup was the only one who got to ride him and anyone else wouldn't be allowed. It would be weird. So there was only one thing to do.[break][break]
As soon as she was on his back he shot straight up into the sky as fast as he could go.[break][break]
It was fun to hear Astrid scream as he dived, swerved and pulled all kinds of crazy stunts. Not that he enjoyed hearing landwalkers scream, but that it was fun to tease the girl into thinking this was a dangerous activity. He was even laughing inside at Hiccup's uninterested tone as he tried to tell him off.[break][break]
Of course it didn't stay like that. He knew the entire time what he had wanted to do and eventually revealed it. Toothless broke through the clouds to reveal a skyline of orange, pink and blue. From the silence that had suddenly fallen, even Hiccup was impressed and that made him puff up inside with pride. Yup! He had definitely done good![break][break]
Although he wasn't impressed with how close the Astrid was getting to Hiccup.[break][break]
Suddenly something rang through his head. A call that made his head hurt so much that he couldn't think straight. Toothless had no choice but to let whomever was trying to control him in... because he knew this call. It had happened so many times before but he didn't want to go.[break][break]
He didn't want to.
SOME MISTAKES WERE MADE
The next thing he knew, he was inside The Den with Hiccup and Astrid still on his back. He know exactly where he was and what would happen but he didn't want these two involved.[break][break]
Just anyone but Hiccup.[break][break]
Now the feeding time had rolled around, Toothless had to watch yet another dragon who didn't collect enough food get swallowed by the Queen. How many times did he have to watch this? How many more dragons would have to get eaten? It was weird. Until he had met Hiccup, he wouldn't have cared really. Just watched. But now he didn't want to see this anymore...[break][break]
Eventually they left and he couldn't be more grateful to get out of The Den. Just away and back to the one place Toothless could call his home. Once his prison, now the cove was a place where he knew he was safe and around creatures who understood him. Happy to have him around.[break][break]
The next day, he could feel there was something wrong. Hiccup was doing something dangerous and Toothless wasn't by his side. That bothered him so he rushed towards that small 'Village' to find him. No matter where he was, he was sure that he could find him.[break][break]
And he did.[break][break]
Hiccup was in some kind of cage fighting the dragon that burst into flames and Toothless would not let Hiccup get hurt. Not ever. So he fired off his own blasts of breath so he could enter the area, tackling the flaming dragon. When it finally retreated,. Toothless found himself victorious. But for some reason Hiccup was pushing him, begging him to go. Why? Why would he do that? He should know that he would always be beside him to protect him. They were.... they were friends and to Toothless, Hiccup was family.[break][break]
The largest man started charging at him with another one of those weapons so he prepared another attack. Nothing would ever hurt Hiccup while he was here. Never.[break][break]
But he was pleading. Hiccup was yelling at him to stop and Toothless could never do something that would hurt the child so he lifted his claw only to have more of the landwalkers pin him down. Why? Why would creatures so like Hiccup do something like this?[break][break]
He didn't understand.
AND THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE BORNE
Soon enough he was chained down so he couldn't move. Trapped on a boat with more of those horrible landwalkers surrounding him shouting commands.[break][break]
Toothless hated it.[break][break]
Not only was Hiccup not here, but his freedom was gone. A coldness had begun spreading over his heart as he watched the shore and island he had lived on for all that time drift further and further away. In the distance, he could still see Hiccup. The one creature that he had ever felt a connection with. The only thing in the world that could understand him.[break][break]
And it was fading away.[break][break]
The days continued to become longer and longer with no sign of ending. All those landwalkers kept their distance except for the one he had tried to attack in that prison dome. He kept coming back and forcing Toothless to tell them where to go.[break][break]
That Dragon Queen wouldn't stop either. He had a headache from the call and all the questions were being asked. All he wanted to do is go home to Hiccup and just live in that cove. Go back to the way things he knew for sure were supposed to be.[break][break]
Before he knew it they had landed and those foolish landwalkers had angered the Queen. She was now breaking through the mountain, sending rocks flying everywhere.[break][break]
Including the boat where he had been imprisoned.[break][break]
The boat suddenly burst into flames and Toothless couldn't see clearly. But it didn't last for long as he was thrown overboard into the cold depths of the sea.[break][break]
He was sinking.[break][break]
The bonds that still kept him trapped into this weird prison stopped him from swimming to the surface to gulp in air. There was no chance of him escaping and he had been ready to accept his death... at least until he saw Hiccup swimming to toward him. Toothless's only friend had jumped into this ocean just to get him free, which he discovered as he tried to pull on the contraption.[break][break]
But it was no use. They wouldn't budge and panic began to rise in Toothless's heart as he roared underwater. He would not let Hiccup die here. There was no chance of that happening.... so he began to struggle harder. He needed to break free so he could get him to the surface.[break][break]
And they did.[break][break]
As soon as he was free he swam to Hiccup and pushed him above the surface. The man who had imprisoned him snapped the muzzle around his snout so he could finally move his jaw again. But Toothless looked at him in wonder and upon seeing the grateful look in his eye, accepted that this landwalker was just like Hiccup. He cared most about his family and his friends.[break][break]
Soon enough, he was in the sky once again. But this time there was no joy or wonder as it was all fire and destruction. The boats burning, the Queen fighting other dragons whom Toothless would come to know as his own set of friends in time. But all that the Night Fury could concentrate on at that moment was Hiccup and where he was guiding him. Trust was the most important part of this and if there was one thing that Toothless believed above all else, it was that he trusted Hiccup. Till the end.[break][break]
A battle began as he lead the Queen above the clouds, bombarding her with attacks. He needed to overcome her for the final time and when she finally spotted them, Toothless began to fly as fast as he could. Down, down, down he flew with the Queen following him. When she began to release her fire breath, Toothless didn't falter under Hiccup's assurance. Yes he would hang on. They were going to get through this.[break][break]
Then he shot.[break][break]
His attack flew straight into her mouth and she began to burn and fall to the ground. But both he and Hiccup were still in danger which Toothless would not allow. So when Hiccup was knocked away from the saddle and into the burning mass, Toothless had only one option as he tried to fly as fast as he could after his only friend.[break][break]
Finally the flames engulfed them both.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT FOR YOU AND I
The one that the landwalkers called the chief walked up to him once the fire had subsided. From his face, Toothless could tell there was only one thing on his mind. The worry and anxiety was unmistakable, even from a landwalker.[break][break]
A smile on his face, Toothless lifted his his wing and unfolded his arms to reveal his best friend held protectively against his scaly chest. He had - after all - told himself so many times that he would rather injury come to himself than Hiccup.[break][break]
When he returned to that island where his best friend lived, he had never expected the reception he had. Not only did he get to live with Hiccup, but now Hiccup's home was his home. There was no danger anymore.
I WILL STAND BY YOU
