| [attr="class","oppost"]Shion tried to sleep that night. Yet she couldn't due to that nightmare cropping up again. The night her parents died. She supposed she'd never truly be free of that memory. She eventually got up and dressed, going about her usual routine. Yet today the routine would be different than usual, she mused while she prepared a piece of toast for breakfast. Today she had agreed to help one of her classmates. Shion didn't socialize much, if at all, but she couldn't refuse. Her classmate exuded some sort of infectious energy. And seemed benevolent enough. Once she had finished her breakfast, Shion looked at the clock. It was time. She quickly packed the needed books and headed out.
When she got to the park, she noticed that her classmate was there already. She cautiously approached her. It was a reflex from the old days, as this girl seemed harmless enough.
"Hello." Shion greeted, smiling feebly
She could have sworn there was someone behind her, watching her. Shaking her head, she dismissed it as paranoia. Those days were gone. |

There was a dense fog all around her. She walked through it as fast as she could, hoping to get out of it as fast as possible. When she did walk out of it, she found herself in an unfamiliar territory. From the looks of it, she was in the middle of the forest. It was confusing to say the least.

Mental strength
Shion is the type of person who endures, no matter what life throws her way. She draws her inner strength from her family and her friends. While she does waver at times, she will get back on her feet in the end.
Intelligence and perception
Shion is quite intelligent and able to plan ahead. This allows her to make decisions in life, as well as to gain one over her shogi opponents.

I just want to be myself... myself
It was just a pastime, a way to make my dull days more interesting. In those days, I felt safe. My parents were the best parents of all. Which is why that night changed everything. My parents were wrenched away from me by that man. I could do nothing but cry. That man forced me to play a game with him. Which was pretty difficult for me considering the situation. That man seemed to notice my state, so he left, but not before leaving behind a game piece to remember him by. I was quickly adopted by my neighbors. The same neighbor who taught me the game in the first place. The game suddenly became more than just a pastime. It became the way to unravel that man's identity, and punish him for what he did. Then I would have closure.[break][break]
Some days I cry alone, but I know I'm not the only one
I threw myself into the world of this game's professionals, in hopes of attaining this goal. Unfortunately, this opened a whole new can of worms. Such as people who would do anything to achieve their goals, even if it meant stomping down someone else's. They lost sight of what was truly important. All accept one. Ayumi. When my life was threatened, he was there for me. His heart was in the right place. And I knew. I knew I had to continue, for both of us. I couldn't allow for someone else to lose their parents like I had. Maybe we could share the prize money or something.I will be there for him too.[break][break]
And then the past reared its ugly head once again. The phrase 'some things are best left forgotten' was never more true. He was.....crazy. There were no other words to describe him. He told me the truth. My parents died because of me. Because I learned the game. I wished I never did. Still, the past is in the past, and I found my closure. It was time to move on. The truth was, I pitied him, in a way. He, unlike me, had no one to support him, which was where the true strength comes from.
