It might come as a surprise to those who knew him before, but Goro purposefully refrained from returning to the detective life yet again. His career was fraudulent, his motives entirely selfish. While he genuinely enjoyed the cat and mouse game of hunting down criminals, he needs a little time away before he can throw himself back into something that is so tarnished by the sins of his past.[break][break] After effects from the self-induced psychotic breakdown that he triggered before coming here are liable to sneak their way into interactions with others. Memory problems and mood swings often crop up and can escalate to violent outbursts that he more than likely won't remember. It's unknown if there's any help available to mend his scars. Goro likes to pretend he's completely fine, and there's no issue at all in the slightest.[break][break] [attr="class","ion-android-people"] Goro will certainly put on a front of being everyone's friend, but below the surface, there's always another story brewing. Suspicion and doubt mar his every interaction as if to save him from ever making any sort of progress in the field of having any sort of support system whatsoever. [break][break]There's only ever been one person who came close enough to befriending Goro, and even then, he feels the bond came a little too late in the game for it to have made a difference. [break][break]What's easier than making a friend out of Goro is making an ally out of him. He'll generally support those who have society's best interests in mind and will condemn the nefarious villains of the world. Why? Well, it's certainly not for anyone's benefit other than himself. He craves praise and recognition, even while trying to lay low and keep a low-profile in the small cafe he's been employed at.[break][break] [attr="class","ion-fireball"] This is a boy who somehow manages to find something to dislike in everyone he meets no matter how kind the soul. Due to his traumatic childhood, he readily assumes that any source of kindness can and will be easily shattered once the other person discovers his undesirable origins. That and, well, he didn't exactly grow up to be a saint. [break][break]Where the relationship goes from here depends on the other person. How obnoxious are they, and will they pose any sort of interruption from Goro living his normal, quiet life? If the answer is yes, down the toilet you go. He's also immensely unfond of dishonest people, despite he himself having a terrible track record in this field. Manipulation, lies, coercion, he despises all of it. [break][break]Do be careful of becoming a true enemy of Goro. He's rather unpredictable what with his mind never fully recovering from the psychotic breakdown and all. At his worst, he'll become violent, lash out, and possibly try to incur more breakdowns.[break][break] [attr="class","ion-heart"] In practice, Goro is utterly inexperienced. He's refrained from allowing anyone to get close in this regard and has lacked any particular drive to seek out even the most base levels of pleasure from another being. It came down to not only his misanthropy but also his need to cultivate a very particular image in the public eye. There was a certain purity to the young celebrity detective that couldn't be compromised at any cost. [break][break]Goro hasn't quite shaken the desire to keep up appearances just yet. It's a habit ingrained into his mentality for years prior, and it would take more than a few days in a new world to make the teen ready for genuine love and affection.

Nikki + Akechi Goro
Mwahaha, this is why I like doppelganger characters, you get weird plots like this. Also, I'm sorry, I'm used to calling him "Akechi", so that's what I'll stick to, sORRY IF THAT'S. DISORIENTATING. S'up, Lux! I like to consider myself a HUGE Persona 5 fan I never spot listening to Beneath the Mask. Never. Even when I'm not listening to it, I am., but I didn't actually manage to get as far as I would have liked in the game before it was tragically ripped away from me. *clenches fist* (Un?)Fortunately, a lot of late game has already been spoiled by my brother, so I have a general understanding of all of the happenings involving Akechi – and reading your beautiful app helped a ton – so I'm. READY TO THROW CHARACTERS AT HIM. Maybe. More specifically, a character with a very similar face to someone he knows quite well!

Nikki and Akechi actually have some similarities here and there despite the fact that, outwardly, they're practically on opposite sides of the spectrum. They both came from fathers who were corrupt, power-hungry politicians they swore to take down, they're both recovering from psychotic breakdowns (albeit of different nature), and they did a lot of unquestionably bad things for the sake of a goal they saw as just. That, and it sounds like they've both got a “I want to be a hero, but never can be” complex going on. Whereas Akechi's all calm and deceit, though, Nikki's angry, violent, and wears his bleeding heart on his sleeve. I can't imagine these two getting along at all, similarities or no, but it'd definitely be an interesting match up – the inevitability that Akechi would probably mistake him for Akira at least once or no. (The differences personality-wise between those two, though, would probably clear up THAT misconception REAL quick.)

I dunno if you're familiar with the Omega Five and watch list sort of sub-plots on the site, but the basic jist is that newcomers to the island who may pose a threat to civilian life are marked down by island officials and are either: a) recruited into Omega Five, or b) put onto a “watch list” (where members of O5 are tasked with stalking them, basically, and knocking 'em out of commission if they get out of line) to make sure they don't continue their dangerous/criminal ways. Considering what Akechi did during the plot of P5, I could see him ending up on that watch list. (Only if that's cool with you, though?? Aha, if that would conflict with what you've got in mind for his character, ignore this whole paragraph. =w=b) It'd make for a good excuse for a first meeting; Nikki's tasked with keeping an eye on him, Akechi finds out because he's #too smart for this stuff, identity confusion ensues and... well, we'll see where they go from there! What say you~?
